Karmiel USA 2024

Welcome to all of our wonderful dancers!  We had an amazing time in 2022 and 2023 meeting back together in person at "The Mountain".

We hope that you're all doing well, enjoying the summer, and dancing a lot!  We, your Karmiel USA Dance team, are eagerly preparing for Labor Day Weekend.  This year promises to be an especially exciting Karmiel USA.  There's a wealth of gorgeous new dances to choose from, and we're busy selecting the very best ones to bring to you.

We have some other important news for you.  Over the past months, we have listened to your feedback and shared our own struggles in trying to meet the Mountain's new requirements.  While we are deeply grateful to those of you who registered early, prepaying the Mountain virtually the entire amount months before camp is just not workable for us.  Then, there was the issue of the declining food quality, and the rising fees, which we were forced to pass on to you.  Like Ruthy, we want camp to be accessible to everyone!  The Mountain did away with the one-day option and created various other scheduling challenges for us – from mealtimes to checkout times.  Last but not least, they wanted us to stop ‘making noise’ (i.e., playing music!) by 10 PM to accommodate other groups staying at The Mountain at the same time as us.  Unfortunately, as much as we love the location and have the fondest memories of dancing there together, it no longer meets the needs of our dance family.

Happily, the Hope of Israel Congregation in Charlotte, North Carolina, where our Spring Workshop was held, has welcomed us with open arms.  There, you will enjoy a spacious dance floor in an air-conditioned hall where you can dance until ‘Kvar Acharei Chatzot’ (our traditional ending dance that refers to dancing after midnight)!  Our close relationships with local vendors guarantee that we can offer you the healthiest and most delicious food imaginable while the flexibility of accommodation will enable you to choose the option that is most comfortable and that best fits your budget.  There are various hotels and Airbnbs in the area, and for your convenience, we have reserved a block of rooms at Home2 Suites by Hilton at Piper Glen.  This highly rated hotel is less than a three-minute drive from dancing - with a gas station, grocery, pharmacy, Target, and plenty of restaurants in between.  Most of the rooms have 2 queen-size beds and a sofa-bed, so those who want to be economical can split the cost 6 ways, making it a fantastic deal, especially if you take advantage of the discounted rate ($129 plus tax) we negotiated till August 16th!  You can use this link to book a room online on the Hilton website with our special rate Group Code "CHTKUS", or you can call the hotel directly at (980) 215-0055 and tell them you are part of our "Karmiel USA" group.

The hotel has a pool, and breakfast is included.  For nature lovers, there is a walking trail five minutes away.  You can also explore a local treasure hidden right inside a Charlotte neighborhood – the Big Rock Nature Preserve with its impressive 10,000-year-old rock formations.  Charlotte is an easy drive on major arteries for most of you, so you will no longer need to brave the serpentine turns to reach the top of Scaly Mountain. If you prefer to fly, the Charlotte Douglas International Airport is less than a half hour drive from dancing!

"On that happy note," as our founder Ruthy would always say, we encourage you to start making your travel plans. Karmiel USA IS US!
